Hey just got the radio shield assembled for the first time. I've got the phrase 'RadioShield' on my display but can't communicate to the radioshield per the wiki. Jumper settings are also confusing. I'm running the arduino-0018 version and downloaded the sample code. The arduino counts up on the serial monitor but not on the displaly. light on radioshield only blinks red on reset. Help?
More information. I've got the USB version of the Arduino. Installed the serial driver and can communicate with the unit. The serial monitor shows the unit counting up using the example program. I've ran BLINK and it runs fine. I've got an intermediate board - a sparkfun board with headers in it. necessary to keep the radioshield circuit board from shorting with the USB. I have a RT204-1 display. Pin one of this display is wired to the ground jumper and a ~370 ohm resistor to jumper pin 16 to ground to current limit the backlight of the display. to connect the display I've used a game port ribbon cable from my junk box and wired pin to pin. phrase RadioShield comes up on the display so I think that part is wired correctly.
Okay I feel just totally stupid! The way the jumpers go on is the key:
Run mode!
run prog x--x x x--x x
not
run prog x x x | X x x
unit now counts on the display, a little help here Steve!
Feel like Bart Simpson's dad at the nuc plant.
